Eddie Howe praised Nathan Ake for his positive display for AFC Bournemouth on Sunday.
The 21-year-old Dutch defender, on loan from Chelsea, scored his third goal in six matches only to see the Cherries lose 3-1 at home to Southampton.
Howe told afcb.co.uk of Ake's performance: "I thought Nathan was excellent.
"If you take away his goal he defended really well, he used the ball well and he got into some good positions, it's a positive from today."
Despite taking an early through the Ake goal, Bournemouth conceded to Ryan Bertrand and twice to Jay Rodriguez to cop a disappointing home defeat to their local rivals.
