Perch completed a medical following his move from Championship outfit Nottingham Forest yesterday.
He said: "Every player wants to play at the top level.
"So to be facing the fantastic prospect of playing Premier League football is something I can't wait for - as well as St. James' Park, going to the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea will be just incredible."
Perch played under Colin Calderwood during his stint in charge of Forest but admits he can't wait to work under miracle worker Chris Hughton.
He said: "I don't know Chris Hughton well yet, but looking on from afar he did a superb job last season.
"Stepping up as he did can't have been easy, but it looked like he got everyone playing together with a fantastic spirit and that was the key to their success.
"I know Colin, of course, from his time at the City Ground.
"I'll start training today and it's going to be tough - it always is.
"You can't really say you look forward to it because it's really intense, but it's all part and parcel of being a professional footballer. It's what we do and what we love.
"I've had a decent break over the summer, but now it's time to get down to the hard work again and I can't wait!
"It goes without saying that I'm absolutely delighted to be moving to such a massive club as Newcastle United - it really is a dream move for me."
