James Perch admits he enjoyed his midfield role at Newcastle United last season.

Perch was happy to do the water carrying for Yohan Cabaye.

"I enjoy playing the No 4 role in the team - mopping up, doing the dirty work and giving it to Cabs!" he told the Evening Chronicle.

"I let him do all the long passes. I am happy getting the ball back for him. Cabaye is quality. Sometimes you get caught just watching him like a fan. Watching him hit the ball is unbelievable.

"We have internationals all over the squad and it is great to play alongside them."
