Real Madrid defender Pepe admits they became the 'most hated' in Spain while Jose Mourinho was in charge.

The Manchester United manager had three explosive years in Madrid.

"During the Mourinho years, people hated us when we went out there on the pitch. It lasted for three years and I thank God that it went very quickly," Pepe told Cadena Ser.

"Things changed when Carlo Ancelotti came in.

"You could see that people started to treat us differently again."
