Kevin De Bruyne has revealed that Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany was left out of the match day squad for Wednesday's clash with Barcelona.
The Belgian defender came off the bench in last weekend's Premier League draw with Everton having recovered from a groin injury.
Kompany made the trip to Catalonia with the rest of the players but was not even on the subs bench at the Nou Camp with Guardiola instead opting for the contributions of full-backs Gael Clichy and youngster Pablo Maffeo.
De Bruyne said of the Kompany omission: "That's Pep's choice. He must have had his reasons."
City went on to lose 4-0 at the Nou Camp after goalkeeper Claudio Bravo was sent off early in the second half.
