Stoke City winger Jermaine Pennant has thrown down the gauntlet to Wolves ace Matt Jarvis.

If Jarvis comes in, Pennant is the favourite to find himself kicking his heels on the sidelines.

But the former Liverpool man, 29, said on Twitter: "Pre-season is here and no matter what winger we buy they will not cross a ball like me. I'm rolling up socks and sleeves and going for it."
