Former Inter Milan president Ernesto Pellegrini has urged supporters to be patient with new owner Erick Thohir.
Thohir has warned it will take time for Inter to return to the summit of Italian football.
"Thohir needs time to properly understand Italian football, he still doesn't know it," said Pellegrini while speaking to Radio Sportiva.
"I made a statement by signing Rummenigge but those were different times. It's fair that before spending money Thohir makes his own evaluations. Today it would cost at least 10m for a player around Rummenigge's level.
"I agree with him, there needs to be a season of transition in order to then put it right in the summer. Inter cannot sign anything less than great players, because they must always fight to win."
