Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that his side requires a top-quality player.
City have foundered this season in their defence of the Premier League title, falling six points behind league leaders Chelsea, and hanging by a thread in the Champions League.
When assessing his squad, Pellegrini told to the Guardian and Daily Mail newspapers that there is one huge element missing.
"This year we improved the squad while working within those (Financial Fair Play) limits," Pellegrini said.
"What we did not do was bring in a crack.
"I think this team now needs a crack, another special player just to give us that sense that we are now at another level."
