Pellegrini refuses to blame Man City fans for lack of atmosphere

After seeing his team held 1-1 at home by Roma in the Champions League, Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini refused to blame the fans for failing to create an intimidating atmosphere at the Etihad stadium. The Chilean admitted Roma were a good team and that City failed to play at their best, giving the ball away too cheaply at times, but the fans had no bearing on the result in what was a less than full Etihad Stadium.

"If you have a great atmosphere it is always better for the team, but we cannot concern ourselves with this as the fans always give their best and I don't think this was important. " The important thing was we didn't win the game."
