Pellegrini plans West Ham swoop for Saint-Maximin

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is considering Nice winger Allan Saint-Maximin as a replacement for Manuel Lanzini, according to The Sun.

The Argentine will be absent for nine months after a knee injury and the Hammers are actively seeking to buy a player of similar qualities.

Pellegrini was at first eager to bring in Javier Pastore from PSG, but his wage demands are too high for the London club.

West Ham then turned to Lazio's Felipe Anderson. However, the Brazilian's price tag of £34m made the deal unlikely.

Saint-Maximin is a France U21 international and scored five goals and set up another nine in 40 outings for Nice last term.
