Pellegrini: No panic buying by Man City because of De Bruyne injury

Manuel Pellegrini says Manchester City will not be dipping into the transfer market to find a replacement for the injured Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne.

"We knew after the game it was a serious injury - not to be the whole season because it was not a cruciate ligament, but we knew it was an important injury," he said. "We hope that he can return before, but the first diagnostic is that he must be out for 8-10 weeks.

"Of course, it is very important for the club not to play with Kevin but we have had very important players who have not been able to play the whole season for different reasons, in one moment David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany.

"It's not our intention to bring in anyone. I said before we have a squad, the squad is doing very well so far.

"In some moments, we couldn't play with Silva or Aguero and now we play without Kevin but I continue trusting in my squad and I am sure we will continue to be a competitive team.

"We must continue playing with the whole squad if we want to be a competitive team. It's an important player less, but we must continue with optimism and more responsibility for the rest of the squad."
