Pellegrini: Man City star Aguero deserves to be in running for PFA award

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has disputed the PFA's decision to not include Sergio Aguero in the shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year award.

The Argentine forward, who has scored 21 league goals this season, has only been shortlisted for the award once during his time in the Premier League which Pellegrini simply cannot fathom.

The Chilean manager said: "I don't vote so it's difficult for me to know why in four years he's never been among the best players.

"I don't know who chooses the best players or what the different reasons might be.

"In other seasons maybe people didn't vote for him because of the injuries but he has demonstrated in every game that he deserves to be in."

Tottenham's Harry Kane, Leicester City trio Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and N'Golo Kante, Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil and West Ham United star Dimitri Payet are the nominations for the 2015/16 PFA award.
