Pellegrini: Man City job doesn't depend on titles

Manuel Pellegrini believes he does not need to hold aloft any trophies in order to remain at the helm of Manchester City. There has been some speculation surrounding the Chilean's position with the reigning Premier League champions in the regard that if they do not win anything this season, he will be sacked.

However, Pellegrini does not agree with those rumours and insists he is not anxious about his current situation at Eastlands.

"There is all this speculation about the future but I am not worried about the future, I am worried about the present. I never have any pressure to win the amount of titles, or to win a title every year, if I want to continue here," said Pellegrini.

"For me, I never have pressure when I sign a contract. They never told me I must win a title every year, or must win five titles in five years. That was a sentence of (chief executive) Ferran (Soriano), it was perfectly normal.

"You can win two titles one year, the other year one - you never know what will happen in football."
