Manuel Pellegrini has been named as new coach of Real Madrid. An agreement has been struck with Villarreal to bring the Chilean to the Santiago Bernabéu for the next two seasons.
The 55-year-old takes over from Juande Ramos who had spent nearly six months in charge at Madrid and is new president Florentino Pérez's first signing for the 2009/10 campaign. Pellegrini's last act in charge at Villarreal was to earn the team a UEFA Europa League play-off berth thanks to a fifth-placed league finish.
