Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has been forced to leave their tour of South Africa.

The Daily Mail says Pellegrini unexpectedly left the club's tour of South Africa earlier on Thursday to fly home to Chile for family reasons.

Radio reports in Chile claim his elderly mother is ill but this has not been confirmed.

He is expected to rejoin his players in Hong Kong early next week and Brian Kidd will steer the ship in the meantime.
