Pellegrini to get one over Real Madrid with Man City Cavani deal

Manchester City are confident trumping Real Madrid for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani - thanks to Manuel Pellegrini. The Mirror says Pellegrini is set to be confirmed as City's new manager to replace Roberto Mancini and he will not be the only arrival from Malaga.

Abu Dhabi sources have excitedly claimed that Spanish attacking midfielder Isco will join his boss Pellegrini at City and that a deal for Cavani is close to completion.

The total cost of the double deal could total a staggering £79million.

Isco's Malaga release fee is £27m, while Napoli have always insisted they will not accept less than the £52m buy-out clause in striker Cavani's contract.

An Abu Dhabi source said: "All the talk here is not just about Pellegrini, but also that City think they've got Isco and Cavani.

"They seem very confident and very excited about it. Things are obviously happening very quickly behind the scenes."

Cavani's signing will please Pellegrini, particularly as it will come at the expense for former club Real Madrid.
