Pellegrini facing battle to keep Man City English players onside

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini faces a battle convincing his English players of their future at the Etihad.

The Mirror says the Blues' starting XI in the Capital One Cup final did not contain an Englishman. And home-grown star Micah Richards is unwilling to sign a new contract after being frozen out of the first-team picture.

Joleon Lescott was left out at Wembley and the England defender is also likely to miss out on a World Cup place. He is set to leave this summer on a free transfer.

Jack Rodwell has been given limited chances since signing in August 2012.

City's England duo Joe Hart and James Milner are first-team regulars but did not play at Wembley.
