Manuel Pellegrini became emotional when breaking the news of his departure to his Manchester City squad.
Pellegrini will be replaced by Pep Guardiola at City at the end of this campaign after the club informed him last month that the Bayern Munich manager had agreed to move to Manchester.
The Daily Mail says it is understood that the 63-year-old became visibly emotional as he gathered his players together at training on Monday to tell them that he would leave this summer.
"It was not a pleasant conversation for Manuel," said a City source<.
"He was visibly emotional as he told the players what was happening. It surprised everybody by how moved he appeared to be.
"Everybody felt pretty uncomfortable about the whole thing, even though most players had suspected it for a while."
