Pellegrini confident Man City job safe

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is confident his job is safe no matter what happens tonight in Rome.

Pellegrini insists he doesn't fear the sack if City crash out of the Champions League tonight against AS Roma.

Pellegrini said: "It's a very important game. We started with a target of trying to qualify for the last 16.

"We have a good squad but made a lot of different mistakes in the other games, especially against the Russian team.

"But we still have our chances. We showed against Bayern Munich, we are fighting to qualify and I am sure we will do it if we play a good game.

"It's very important for the club to play in the next round.

"I always expected it was going to be very difficult group. It includes the champions of England, Russia, Germany and the runners-up in Italy.

"That's why I never expected easy games. Roma are a very good team, not just this year but last year as well. I was sure they would all be tough games.

"But no I don't think so (pressure on his job if City lose). It's an important game and we all want to qualify, but I don't think what happens will have any link to my future.

"I never received any kind of pressure from the club. I think we will qualify, but it has nothing to do with my future."
