Graziano Pelle begun his Southampton career in fine fashion by scoring a brace in a pre-season friendly with Sporting Hasselt on Thursday.
The 29-year old Italian striker, who joined the Saints from Dutch club Feyenoord last weekend, struck in the fourth minute and just after the half-hour mark against the Belgian side to begin with great confidence for his new club.
Pelle, who cost Southampton £8million, posted on Twitter that he was thrilled to have contributed to such a victory which also saw Sam McQueen, Emmanuel Mayuka and Sam Gallagher on the scoresheet.
It's was great to play my first match for @SouthamptonFC and to score my 1st 2 goals. #hassou#saintsfc#teamworkpic.twitter.com/CVXa33iTyH
