Pele declares New York Cosmos are set to return

Brazilian football legend Pele has declared that the New York Cosmos are set for a return to competitive soccer in the USA.

Pele is the face of the reincarnation driven by former Tottenham Hotspur vice-chairman Paul Kemsley with the club planning to begin at grass roots level before pushing through the ranks and joining MLS in the future.

"As global ambassador for the game, and as Honorary President of The New York Cosmos, it's a great privilege to be able to give back to the future of the sport that gave so much to me," Pele said. "The return of The New York Cosmos will inspire footballers in this country, and embrace people around the world who love this beautiful game as much as I do.''

The Cosmos Academy is set to field teams in the US Soccer Development Academy ranging from U12 to U18 with Pele stating that the club will grow from the bottom with an emphasis on developing young talent.

"Now we are going to work with the base. All the new generation will be part of our family,'' added Pele. "The second generation, the third generation; we are going to work and give the support to them.''
