Pearson: We will give Cambiasso time to decide his Leicester future

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has revealed that contract talks have already started with veteran midfielder Esteban Cambiasso.

The Argentine arrived from Inter Milan on a one-year contract at the King Power Stadium last summer and has scored five goals in 31 appearances in his debut season in English football.

Pearson has made no secret of his desire to keep Cambiasso in a Foxes shirt for next season but says the club is ready to give enough time to the midfielder to decide his future.

"Discussions are ongoing," said Pearson after Leicester completed a successful relegation battle with seven wins from their past nine outings. "We would love him to be a part of our season again next year.

"We don't want to be in this situation again next year and it would be great if he was a part of it. He has proven throughout the season he brings an awful lot to a Premier League side, even at his age.

"But I also respect the fact he needs time to reflect. It is not an easy thing to do.

"The emotional side of receptions he got were fabulous. He will be aware of that but he will need time to think and we will allow him time to think."
