Pearson hopes to further add to Leicester squad

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson retains hope of further adding to his squad this month.

However, Pearson said no deals were imminent in a notoriously difficult transfer window.

"We continue to be on the look-out but whether we achieve or don't remains to be seen," he said.

"It's a difficult transfer window to operate in but clearly it's an opportunity for us in the situation we are in to try to make that difference.

"We may have been heavily linked (with Defoe) but it never really got off the ground. It's not really one to comment on, as he made his decision. We try to concentrate as much as we can on targets which are achievable.

"We will continue to do exactly the same thing, as quietly as we can, in terms of doing the deals and protecting everyone's interest.

"If they are doable they are doable, if not, we move on. That is how we have always operated.

"There is no reason to change that now by expressing we have been looking for high-profile players. We may have been in other windows.

"If you don't get them I don't see any value in talking about players you don't achieve."
