New signing Jason Pearce has returned to Portsmouth the club he began his career with as a trainee. The 23-year-old central defender signed from Bournemouth on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee last week, four years after leaving in search of first-team football.
Pearce, who captained Bournemouth to the play-offs last season, said: "When the opportunity arose to come back to Pompey I was delighted.
"I was here as a young lad, but didn't get the opportunity to play first-team football - that's why I left for Bournemouth."
Pearce added: "I heard there were a few clubs interested and then Pompey came out of the blue. Once I heard about that and the bid was accepted then I just wanted to get the deal done as soon as possible. It's the right club for me.
"It'll be amazing to play at a packed Fratton Park - something I've dreamed of. The fans are amazing here and still get behind you even when you're not doing so well."
