England U21 boss Stuart Pearce has backed Simon Ireland to overcome his current problems with the Republic of Ireland.

Pearce said of the Manchester City midfielder: "Stephen Ireland has not got far to look to see how to do it. He has to listen to the likes of Richard Dunne - he's a shining light over the last few years."
