Pearce unhappy with current NYRB situation

Heath Pearce has made vehemently clear that he is unhappy with his current playing situation with New York Red Bull.

The 28-year old defender, who joined from Chivas USA last year, had started eight matches for the Red Bulls prior to the weekend's 2-1 win over Toronto FC.

New York head coach Mike Petke opted to start Roy Miller - a tactical move - ahead of Pearce for the BMO Field fixture which is a decision the latter was none too happy about.

"You'll have to ask him that. I'm the wrong person to ask," said Pearce when asked if Petke's decision had been actually been tactical.

But the Red Bulls coach countered: "For Toronto, it was tactical for sure.

"We played against a team and I thought he played very well against New England (the week before). We're playing a game against Toronto on the road who has five or six 6-footers who play extremely direct longballs and are very much a threat on flick-ons and on corner kicks. That was a complete tactical change."

Pearce will be in contention for a return to the starting line-up when the Red Bulls, currently sitting third on the Eastern Conference table, head to Columbus Crew on the weekend.
