Pearce: Oxlade-Chamberlain will play more for England U21 than Arsenal

Stuart Pearce feels Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will see more action for England U21 than with Arsenal.

The former Southampton starlet was in sparkling form for England Under-21s during their 5-0 win over Iceland on Thursday night, but has made only four appearances for the Gunners this season.

Pearce said: "You can roll the clock back and compare Alex to Theo Walcott, after his move to Arsenal from Southampton.

"Theo wasn't playing much, but I think he played seven 90 minutes for the Under-21s and that was vital learning for him.

"That might be the case for Chamberlain as well. If he's going to get his 90 minutes of football he might have to get it with the Under-21s, but as long as he's playing like that he'll hold a place in the squad."
