Pearce excited about new challenge with Chivas USA

Heath Pearce is looking forward to the next phase of his MLS career after joining Chivas USA during the week. The 26-year old left-back, who has represented the USA on 33 occasions, was traded by FC Dallas for allocation money on Tuesday and is looking to make an immediate impact under new Chivas coach Robin Fraser at The Home Depot Center.

"It's always nice to come into a place where you feel wanted and you feel that people trust and believe in you," Pearce told MLSSoccer.com.

"Hopefully, I'll be able to prove my worth in training with my work ethic and I'll be able to get on the field."

Former USA teammate Jimmy Conrad, who recently joined the club from Sporting Kansas City, said that the acquisition of Pearce was a very positive move for Chivas who are intent on improving on their disappointing 15th place finish last season.

"I think any time you can add a quality player to your team, you don't think twice about it," Conrad said.

"What's good about Heath is he can play multiple positions…He's young, has experience and has good confidence about him. I think he's going to make for hard choices for the coaching staff, and that's ultimately what you want."
