Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere was missing for England U21's 1-0 Euro qualifying victory over Portugal last night.
Wilshere was left out of England's team on Friday night because Stuart Pearce felt he had lost his focus.
The Arsenal midfielder was interviewed by police over an assault after a night out clubbing last weekend and the England manager said 'he had taken his eye off the ball'.
Wilshere, 18, was an unused substitute for this Euro 2011 group game as Daniel Sturridge scored the goal which kept qualification hopes alive.
Pearce said there is no guarantee he will play in the must-win game against Lithuania on Tuesday either.
"There have been one or two stories in regard to him," said Pearce. "Whether there is any truth in them or not I am not particularly interested - but I felt he had taken his eye off the ball.
"This game was too important to put a player on the pitch who hadn't had a full focus in respect of that."
