West Ham United midfielder Dimitri Payet admits their success this season has surprised him.

Payet has suggested that he did not expect to be in the position he is with his team at the current moment in time but is determined to help his side progress.

Speaking to West Ham's official club website the 28-year-old said: "I might have been a little sceptical if you told me where we'd be, but we've shown that our position has not happened by chance.

"We continue to take points, that's the important thing."
