Former Stuttgart striker Pavel Pogrebnyak was surprised by his late move to Fulham.

Fulham chief Martin Jol covered Bobby Zamora's exit by signing Stuttgart's £4m striker Pogrebnyak.

The Russian, 28, claimed it was worth taking a pay cut to fulfil a boyhood ambition to play in England.

He said: "I still cannot believe I have a new country to get used to."
