Patient Iwelumo will wait for Wolves chance

Chris Iwelumo is prepared to remain patient in Wolves' quest to secure Premier League survival, reports the Birmingham Mail Iwelumo spent a period on loan with Bristol City recently but returned last month to provide cover, making three substitute appearances since.

Wolves have tended to go with Kevin Doyle as a lone striker in recent weeks.

"I enjoyed getting half-an-hour against Stoke - I just did what I could which is what I've got to do when I get the chance," said the 31-year-old.

"I went out on loan to get some match fitness and came back feeling good.

"I'm training well and just want to play as much as I can, the same as every other member of the squad.

"The 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 has worked so well and has put us into the position we are in this season.

"But every game is different and sometimes it helps to go 4-4-2 against particular opposition, which is why I think the gaffer changed it on Sunday.

"We all know how well Doyler leads the line.

"He's got everything - he's got presence, he's quick, he's good in the air, his work ethic is fantastic and he scores goals.

"On a personal note all I can do is try and make the gaffer think that something worked pretty well and it gives him another option to keep in mind.

"That is all the players on the fringes, who are trying to get into the team, can do.

"We've always known it's a squad game and it's just unlucky for the strikers that Kevin Doyle has done so well and doesn't need a rest.

"I don't know what he's eating or what he's drinking but it's working well for him."
