Passion for World War One history took Palace boss Pulis to Crimea!

Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis admits he's a World War One history buff.

Pulis's love of history recently took him to Crimea, where he visited battlefields prior to Russia annexing the region.

He said: "In future I will be going somewhere more sensible than that.

"I might try to get over to Ypres in Belgium. If I can get some time off I'm looking to get over there to see the First World War battlefields.

"I have never been there before. I've just finished reading a couple of books on it It's something I want to do. I have always been interested in history.

"We can take something from all those old events into our lives.

"We have to appreciate that a lot of people lost their lives so we can have the country we have today.

"We need to show great respect to every one of them. You can have reality all you like but I don't think anything can compare to what those men did in the First World War.

"I just like history. I have read loads of books on Napoleon. He came from Corsica and went to France as a young boy.

"To come from nothing and then lead his country. It doesn't matter what you think of him. He did it."
