Partick Thistle hoping to extend McGowan loan

Scottish second division club Partick Thistle are keen to extend the loan for talented Heart of Midlothian defender Ryan McGowan.

The 21-year old, who was this week called up to the Australian senior squad for the upcoming friendly with Germany, has been on loan with the Jags since February, making five first team appearances.

According to Partick assistant Ian Maxwell, the club wants to hold onto the Adelaide-born centre-half for a little while longer.

"Ryan has done well in recent weeks. Above all else he is a nice big guy. He is willing to learn, works hard and has a great attitude," he told The Glaswegian.

"He probably still needs a few more games to get match fit but he is steadily getting there.

"Ryan's size is obviously an asset and gives us a threat at set pieces in attacking situations while also being useful for defending set plays at the other end.

"He will be an important member of the squad as long as he is here."
