Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has dismissed press reports that bank pressure could lead to the sales of Fernando Torres and Ryan Babel.

"The story in Friday's Times newspaper was garbage," he told liverpoolfc.tv.

"I want to make it clear in the simplest and most straightforward terms that the purchases of Fernando and Ryan were funded in the same way as every other transfer.

"The scope for any other interpretation is nil."
