Parma midfielder Daniele Galloppa has slammed former club Roma over their treatment of young players.
Galloppa grew up in the Giallorossi colours, but he has only been able to find regular first team football at the Tardini.
"The youth academy there lost so many good players who later on made it to the Nazionale," said Galloppa.
"Just look at Simone Pepe, Gaetano D'Agostino, Marco Amelia and the others. The club made mistakes and they could have got better money from my sale, too.
"Having homegrown youngsters in your squad can save the situation in a dire economic crisis."
He added: "When I was under contract with Roma I was loaned out for four years and never even received a phone call.
"They let the deal run until it was about to expire, then in the end offered a renewal just so they wouldn't lose the money invested, but I did not accept under those circumstances."
