Parma midfielder Daniele Galloppa has hit out at former club Roma and their treatment of young players.

"The problem is enormous, above all with Roma, where the club is also in crisis and therefore should for a lot of reasons focus on the academy," Galloppa told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"After the loans came the part-ownership. I was the one who turned down a contract renewal. I didn't feel part of the project. I don't have any regrets.

"In Italy there is never time to wait for a youngster like Balotelli [to develop]. He lacks balance. Today he is a phenomenon, the week after he is a nutcase. He is 19. We need to give him time."
