New Parma president Ermir Kodra admits they made an attempt for Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli.
The Italian is a target for Serie A clubs this month.
"We have signed some quality figures, but are seeking for other top players," Kodra told Supersport.
"We were close - very close - to signing Mario Balotelli, but in the end were unable to complete the negotiations.
"However, our director of sport Pietro Leonardi is working to bring in the striker we need."
