Parma have signed Wolfsburg fullback Cristian Zaccardo.

"We had been following this player for a long time and, thanks to his agent Branchini, were able to conclude the transfer by beating off competition from big clubs in both Italy and abroad," said President Tommaso Ghirardi.

"It is an honour for us to have a World Cup winner and a Bundesliga title holder in our squad."

Zaccardo has signed a five-year contract with Parma.
