Parker performance delights Fulham's Jol

Scott Parker's influence in Fulham's 2-1 Capital One Cup third round win over Everton on Tuesday night has been praised by manager Martin Jol.

The former West Ham United and Tottenham midfielder grabbed the Cottagers group and directed them from a one-goal deficit to a morale-boosting victory at Craven Cottage and his efforts were clearly not lost on his boss.

"The goal they scored (through Steven Naismith) was a hammer blow, everyone was thinking 'there we go again'," Jol said.

"But people like Scott Parker are a big influence, I am happy he's here.

"He's a leader. Of course there are other experienced players, but I'm very happy with his influence.

"He comes from another club, and he tells the players if we're doing ok, or if we need more goals, or to be a bit more clever.

"That's what he adds to us."

After Fulham went behind, Dimitar Berbatov managed to equalise early in the second half before Parker's fellow summer signing Darren Bent provided the winner with just over 20 minutes remaining.
