Parke leaves Seattle Sounders for Vancouver Whitecaps deal

The Vancouver Whitecaps have signed veteran defender Jeff Parke to a one-year deal. The 27-year-old Parke joins the USL-1 Whitecaps after spending a half-decade as the starting centre back with the MLS's New York MetroStars and later re-named Red Bulls.

"This is a great opportunity," Parke said in a statement. "I'm excited and thankful about this next challenge that has been presented to me by the Whitecaps. It's an exciting new chapter in my life. I'm going to work hard and hopefully, the team does well and good things come out of this."
