Park Ji-Sung proves Asian players good enough for top flight

The South Korea winger, 27, says stars from Asia do not get the respect they deserve and that clubs from the Premier League, Serie A and Spain's La Liga unfairly overlook them.

Park showed he could compete in Europe during his time with PSV Eindhoven, earning a move to United in 2005.

He felt he had to prove himself again at Old Trafford, but Sir Alex Ferguson's belief in him is clear now, with the United manager picking him for both legs of the Champions League semi-final victory over Barcelona.

"I proved my ability with PSV but some people still think Asian players aren't good enough to play in Europe," he said.

"It's always challenging to prove them wrong. When I first came to United I had to prove my ability. Now everyone knows I'm not just here to sell shirts!"
