Manchester United's Park Ji-sung believes his move to the club has been much more than a marketing ploy.
The former South Korea captain came to Old Trafford from PSV Eindhoven in 2005 and after a slow start has emerged as a consistent performer in the Premier League and Champions League.
Some cynics believe that the main idea to sign Park was to sell more shirts to a growing Asian market but the 30-year old knows it was much more than that.
"At first, some said I was selling T-shirts," said Park. "It didn't hurt. It was my first year and maybe they thought an Asian player could not perform in European football.
"I proved it was the wrong thing to think and I am delighted with that.
"I have proved I can play in European football."
