Parish insists Palace can fill 40,000-seat stadium

Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish has explained plans for a new 40,000 all seater stadium.

Parish believes Crystal Palace can make it work, which is why they are pressing ahead with plans to transform Selhurst Park.

"Where we are, we can get big attendances but we need to have a facility that enables us to get that so we need to build it," he told the London Evening Standard.

"If you're a club in London, with the catchment area that we've got with no other club for two boroughs - Croydon and Bromley - of 700,000 or 800,000 people in those boroughs. Compare that to Bolton with a population of 120,000, or a Middlesbrough, who've got 400,000.

"There's every possibility for this club to be what we want it to be. We really have to make the most of that opportunity to stay here [the Premier League] and we're doing everything we can to try and make that so."
