Crystal Palace are on the brink of signing Marouane Chamakh to a new deal.

The Croydon Advertiser says the 30-year-old is currently a free agent after his previous deal ran out on Tuesday, but talks with the Eagles have been ongoing since May.

Palace co-chairman Steve Parish revealed: "We are very close, it's nearly done pretty much.

"We hope to get it over the line, that's where we are and we're really positive about it.

"That would be great."
