Pardew wary of his 'longevity' at Newcastle

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is wary of being the second longest serving manager in the Premier League.

Pardew is wary of the pressure that tag can bring and concedes it was right his job had come under threat.

He said: "I don't know if it's a source of pride being the second longest-serving manager - it's a source of danger.

"I've come under pressure this year for my job, and I think that's only right in terms of the results we've had.

"I have to accept that. I've tried to handle it in a dignified way but I'll definitely be a better manager for it.

"I've tried to speak to fans when I've seen them in the street and given them as good answers as I can, but the bottom line is we haven't been good enough."
