Alan Pardew has called on Newcastle to add some consistency to their wildly fluctuating performances. While United have beaten the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, they've also suffered defeats to the teams, like them, whose first goal is avoiding relegation.
New manager Pardew doesn't see why the side he inherited from Chris Hughton can't be a tougher proposition week in, week out.
"With all due respect to Birmingham, which is an away game, we have some really tough games in Man City and Spurs," Pardew told the South Shields Gazette.
"So it was important that we got that victory against Liverpool to get us to 22 points.
"Hopefully, we can build on that in the next two games."
Pardew added: "The most important thing is Birmingham, and everything's geared to that.
"I don't really look any further than that, so in terms of preparing this week, it's all about Birmingham."
