Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has urged fans not to turn on Yohan Cabaye.
Pardew says that he can understand fans who will be unhappy at Cabaye if he opts out of playing against West Ham United today.
"I think that fans have to understand - and I'm sure they do because they are an intelligent bunch - there has to be a way back for him," he told the Evening Chronicle.
"There's a solution that he goes. There's also a solution that he stays. If he stays, he has to be in a position where he produces his best football.
"He has to have faith in the manager and he has faith in the group around him and that we'll support him.
"I have to support him, and I will. He is a great player that will be difficult to replace - I'd like him to stay like our fans do."
