Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has paid tribute to Toon's frustrated support.

Pardew talked up the fans ahead of two of the most crucial and decisive fixtures in United's top-flight history.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "They've been vital to us all year - the away fans have been absolutely terrific.

"And of course we have had phenomenal support at home with sell out crowds. I know they won't turn on us - they love the club so much.

"We need to make sure we give them something back."
