Pardew told us to play downhill towards Newcastle fans - Krul

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has revealed what manager Alan Pardew said to his players at half-time that helped get them a point against Tottenham.

The Magpies twice fell behind at St James' Park before forcing a 2-2 draw through Shola Ameobi's 86th minute leveler and Krul said it was Pardew's clever words at the break which motivated the Newcastle players to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

"The manager made a good point at half-time against Spurs," Krul told The Sun.

"He convinced us we were playing downhill towards our fans in the second half. It really seemed to help and, in the end, it was a draw that almost felt like a win."
